Carbohydrates – friend or foe?

In recent years, the diet favored by many hobby bodybuilders to competitive athletes has undergone an interesting change. Only a few years ago, efforts were made to keep the amount of fat in food to a minimum. In recent years more and more of the “carbohydrates are your enemy” image is being built up. Fat, on the other hand, is becoming increasingly important in the bodybuilding-friendly diet. Ketogenic and low carbohydrate or even carb cycling diets are trendy.
Only, as so often in the bodybuilding world, one has to ask the question, if jumping from one extreme to the other really makes sense or maybe carbohydrates can have their place and justification. With many e-mails that reach me daily, comments on my videos or posts, or even personal care of athletes, I have repeatedly found that most do not actually know how important carbohydrates are and how the carbohydrate metabolism works.
